Lots of people currently posting their 2025 Spotify Wrapped statistics and artists thanking their listeners for streaming their music, so I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone that actually bought a PHYSICAL COPY of any of my records this year. In fact a massive thumbs up to anyone that bought a physical copy of anyone’s record this year for helping to keep the art of the album alive. I’m not naive enough to think that streaming isn't the dominant platform for music listening in the 21st century by a huge margin, but I also believe the relationship between a listener and a physical piece of art is still a magical and special thing that will never be replaced by ones and zeros streaming off a server. So here is Steven Wrapped, 20 physical releases I listened to a lot this year (mostly things released or reissued in 2025, but not only)… (link to the list in the comments!)

Tengo este año malestar con Steven Wilson. No me quito de la cabeza su apoyo al ejército de Israel después de los atentados de Hamás. Intento comprender que vive ahí, que fue justo después del atentado, el contexto y lo que quieras, pero me sigue doliendo de alguien a quien considero sensible e inteligente. Es cierto que remarca las víctimas inocentes, pero me duele ver su parcialidad en un genocidio interesado que desde aquí vemos tan claro.

Aun así, sigo considerando que su último disco es una obra maestra, que es un genio de nuestro tiempo, que es un productor increible, y su valor como gurú musical es impagable, así que voy a explorar sus recomendaciones. La vida está llena de contradicciones, y últimamente en el rock y el metal, cada vez es más complicado escuchar la música con la inocencia de antes.

He llegado a un punto en que me da igual que seas un genio mientras estes vivo, cuando mueras me lo pensaré.

No se si entiendo del todo lo que me quieres decir. En parte porque el artículo me lo capa por no ser suscriptor y lo he leído sólo a medias. No tengo claro que Robe fuese un tipo con una ideología firme de Izquierdas, sí que tengo claro que no era un señor de derechas.

Tampoco me escandaliza que a gente de derechas le pueda gustar, probablemente está ahí en su vida antes de que definiesen esa ideología o lo que sea. Supongo que les puede pasar como a mi me pasa a veces con Megadeth, por ejemplo. O incluso con grupos de Black Metal que prefiero saber poco de lo que piensan.

Que si eres un hijo de puta en vida no quiero saber nada de ti ni de tu obra, cuando mueras me pensaré lo de tu obra.

Estaba a punto de hacer con STEVEN lo mismo que hice con Jonas. Pasar su recomendaciones a nuestra lista de propuestas, y a ver si algo pasa vuestro filtro. Pero me acabo de dar cuenta de que lo que ha ordenado ahí son discos que ha escuchado mucho este año, no lanzamientos de este año, así que voy a seguir uno a uno porque estoy pez en la mayoría. Si veis algo que conocéis comentad, y me ayudáis a centrar el tiro de la escucha.
